The HYPE Project is our after-school program that engages middle and high school girls in a fully designed, proven and interactive curriculum that teaches critical thinking and the fundamentals of computer science. The HYPE Project is powered by grants from the Georgia Department of Education and Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women program which, along with generous support from Google, Optiv, Blackrock, Microsoft TEALS program, Aflac, and the Southern Black Women and Girls Consortium, allows us to continue to develop the next generation of Black and Brown women in tech.

Our signature after-school program incorporates career exposure field trips and career presentations by women professionals in tech, as well as access to internship opportunities and the signature HYPE International Experience for high school students. Our flexible, HYPE instructor-led club model is designed to support students at varying levels of experience.

Hope and opportunity are life-changing gifts

HYPE is developing the next generation of leaders! The HYPE Leadership Academy is our workforce development & internship placement program that equips high school students with workforce-ready skills in 21st-century careers.

Backed by the financial support of Goldman Sachs’ One Million Black Women program,  Southern Black Women and Girls Consortium, and the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, HYPE Scholars gain relevant tech skills, leadership training and development, and ultimately a career-developing summer internship. We are also grateful for the time, talent, and treasure from our corporate partners at State Farm and The Coca-Cola Women in STEM who offer hands-on mentorship and guidance to prepare our budding leaders for their next step.

The Leadership Academy is facilitated by WrightNow Solutions who help us ensure Scholars’ successful completion of the program and execution of a community-facing leadership summit as their final capstone project. This competitive, career-building program is available only to HYPE alumnae ages 15 and up.

We nurture the skills of leadership and communication

The HYPE International Experience

HYPE's signature International Experience gives HYPE Scholars a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel abroad and teach coding skills to youth in an international developing country or urban city center.

Research shows that girls want to solve real-world problems and are drawn to service-oriented careers from a young age, but not STEM. Our fully-funded 1-week trips abroad comprise of HYPE alumnae teaching coding workshops to kids in developing countries, allowing them to put into practice what they have learned in the HYPE Project while connecting STEM fields to passion, purpose, and solving real-world problems.

Thanks to the generosity of the Coca-Cola Women in STEM, HYPE will be hosting up to 12 girls for the 2024 trip to Kingston, Jamaica!  This train-the-trainer model will actively develop students into teachers and empower young women with critical leadership skills that prepare them for future careers in tech – all while gaining a global perspective via exposure to new countries, cultures, and ways of life.

If you’re interested in backing the 2024 HYPE International Experience, you can donate today and support HYPE International Experience Scholars.
