HYPE in Tech Executive Director Kristina Newton and HYPE Scholar Ashlyn Manier joined WSB-TV's One on One with Condace Pressley on People 2 People to discuss expanding opportunities for young women in technology and preparing the next generation of innovators and leaders.

"We're rethinking what workforce readiness looks like by helping young people start earlier—building skills, gaining real-world experiences, and exploring opportunities that will prepare them for careers that may not even exist for another five or ten years from now," said Kristina Newton, Executive Director of HYPE.

Ashlyn Manier shared how her journey in technology began with front-end development and how HYPE helped cultivate her passion for STEM. This summer, she will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology to study engineering.

Ashlyn is also one of nine HYPE Scholars embarking on a transformative journey to Accra, Ghana through HYPE's partnership with Enroute54. The experience is designed to advance quality education and gender equality while fostering cultural exchange, global citizenship, and leadership development.

The impact of this initiative extends far beyond travel. During the program, HYPE Scholars will help launch four mini IT labs, creating greater access to technology and digital learning resources for students. Through experiences like these, HYPE continues to equip young women with the technical skills, confidence, and leadership tools needed to thrive in today's digital economy.

The Ghana experience builds on HYPE's longstanding commitment to global engagement, following previous international service-learning opportunities in Nicaragua and Jamaica.
