HYPE Featured on WIGO Radio

DJ Eclectic of WIGO Radio recently featured HYPE in Tech on her show, spotlighting the organization's upcoming Cultural Immersion experience in Ghana and the life-changing opportunities it provides for young scholars pursuing careers in technology.

As part of the feature, DJ Eclectic discussed with HYPE's Executive Director Kristina Newton and HYPE Scholar Kacira Foster to discuss the impact of the program, the importance of global learning experiences, and the role technology can play in creating opportunities for young women around the world.

Kacira has been a part of HYPE for four years and credits the program with helping her develop both technical skills and self-confidence. With a passion for coding, she shared how proud she is of her accomplishments and the growth she has experienced through her involvement with HYPE.

Kristina Newton spoke about the transformative power of combining technology education with global experiences. Reflecting on the upcoming trip, she shared that there is "really no price you can put on it" when young women learn to code and then have the opportunity to lead coding camps and inspire more than 50 girls in communities such as Ghana.

Experiences like these are made possible through the support of community partners, donors, and advocates who believe in expanding opportunities for young women. For nearly a decade, Kristina has led HYPE's mission of equipping girls with the skills, confidence, and experiences needed to thrive in technology. Drawing from nearly 20 years in the tech industry, she remains committed to creating opportunities for young women that she did not have access to as a student.

The Ghana Cultural Immersion experience is another example of HYPE's commitment to developing future leaders through technology, service, leadership, and global engagement. Through the partnership, scholars will not only experience a new culture but also help expand access to technology education and inspire the next generation of innovators.
