2025 HYPE About Tech Conference Press Release

Top Women Leaders in Business, STEM, Entertainment and Academia Unite for “HYPE About Tech” Conference in Atlanta

With support from Sage Foundation, HYPE hosts inaugural event to equip women and girls with the skills, mentorship, and support for pursuing careers in STEM

[Atlanta, GA] – For women and girls pursuing careers in STEM, the journey is often marked by such barriers as underrepresentation, limited mentorship, and the challenge of balancing career ambitions with personal well-being. The HYPE About Tech Conference, taking place March 3-4, 2025 in Atlanta, aims to help address those barriers.

With the theme “Balancing Code with Care,” the inaugural event, sponsored by Sage Foundation, will feature interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities focused on not only technical skills but also leadership, mentorship, and wellness—essential elements for long-term success in the field.

The conference will welcome hundreds of young women ages 16-25 and feature a distinguished lineup of speakers and panelists who have made significant impacts in business, technology, academia, and entrepreneurship, including:

  • Candace V. Mitchell – Founder & CEO of MYAVANA, computer scientist, pioneering entrepreneur, and beauty tech innovator
  • Dr. Kendra A. Momon – Pastor at Victory Midtown, Associate Provost at Oglethorpe University, author, speaker, and visionary entrepreneur
  • Rashan Ali – Acclaimed multimedia personality, writer, entrepreneur, and dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
  • Tanya Sam – Director of Partnerships at TechSquare Labs, entrepreneur, angel investor, and influential media personality
  • Tasha Hayes – Director of Ecosystem Performance at Sage, seasoned technology leader, strategic executor, and data-driven decision-maker

These industry leaders will share insights on overcoming challenges in male-dominated fields, prioritizing self-care and leveraging mentorship and community support to thrive.

HYPE, a nonprofit dedicated to building a diverse pipeline of future tech professionals, recognizes that workforce development extends beyond technical training. With a focus on workforce development, inclusion, and community-building, HYPEaims to bridge the opportunity gap and ensure that the future of technology is diverse, inclusive, welcoming and supporting of girls of color

Why This Conversation Matters

Despite making up nearly half of the workforce, women hold less than 30% of jobs in technology, with representation even lower for Black and Latina women. Many also report struggling with burnout, imposter syndrome, and the pressure of being one of the few women in the room.

“At a time when women’s representation in tech is still a fight, this conference is about more than just breaking into the industry—it’s about making sure women and girls can build fulfilling, sustainable careers in it,” said Kristina Newton, Executive Director of HYPE. “By equipping attendees with both technical expertise and the personal strategies to navigate an industry where they are often the minority, we’re ensuring that they not only get access to tech careers but thrive in them.”
