Position Summary

HYPE is seeking a digital-savvy Community Engagement Specialist to serve as a brand advocate for HYPE. In this role, you will support and strengthen our online presence and relationships with HYPE Alumnae and HYPE Educational Partner community members. This work will require creating and managing the online voice of HYPE to build brand awareness, loyalty, and a sense of belonging within and amongst these external communities. The Community Engagement Specialist will also represent the needs of alumnae and educational partners for our internal programs and leadership team.

The specialist will be responsible for aligning relevant company communications, PR, social media, and marketing content to create a strong brand identity. You will leverage various strategies such as surveys, focus groups, assessments, and research to synthesize findings on the efficacy of HYPE’s programs and determine how to best share our impact in grant proposals and annual reports. You will be the first point of contact for members of the communities that you support, thus developing an intimate relationship with the online community.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a deep passion for community building, stay abreast of relevant new developments and opportunities, and be a strategic thinker. You must have an outgoing personality as in-person networking will also be part of the job.

Hours Description

  • Full-time, salary, non-exempt employment status
  • Hybrid work, with the flexibility to work primarily from home
  • Occasional requirement to meet in person and/or attend special events
  • Reports to Program Director

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Become proficient in HYPE programs, offerings, and services available to the community
  • Stay abreast of opportunities relevant to HYPE alumnae and educational partners
  • Demonstrate understanding of opportunities relevant to HYPE alumnae and educational partners
  • Support onboarding for new educational partners and HYPE alumnae
  • Work with Operations Analyst to implement process for adding new alumnae to the HYPE Alumnae database
  • Maintain an online platform to keep community members engaged and informed.
  • Enable Discord automation that encourages connection and community engagement
  • Devise and implement community communication initiatives.
  • Create a survey to inform the creation of a directory, heat map of our community network, and other identified metrics that support our strategic plan
  • Create engaging content for all platforms, including blog pieces, articles, social media posts, newsletters, and videos.
  • Maintain external communication with an online community and respond to comments, inquiries, and requests.
  • Increase engagement of HYPE Alumnae and HYPE Educational Partners.
  • Analyze engagement and relevant community metrics.
  • Relay community feedback to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with other departments to stay updated on new marketing initiatives, product and program developments, and to ensure brand consistency.
  • Plan and attend networking events, focus groups, and relevant workshops (both in-person and virtually)
  • Create reports and summaries to share community updates & progress both internally and externally

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or work equivalent)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships
  • Ability to develop ways to inform people about events and resources, including using social media and influencers

Benefits & Compensation

Pay will be commensurate with experience in the range of $45,000 – $52,000 per year.  Additional benefits include:
